The Pond

A mass
No movement
Light snow covers the surface
Solid ice into the depths

Small birds long for fish
No chance
The still air brings strained silence
Whites and Greys all around
A clean canvas

Sunlight barely peeks through the clouds
Its last minute attempt to warm the land
We enter the time of reverence
Part of the organism
One

Bringing what I learned in Florida to the great state of Illinois as I continue my journey. After almost 30 years in Florida, I decided it was time for a change of scenery. I love science, math, technology, yet enjoy the challenge of free verse poetry and examining the world critically.
