Poetry - Reflections

Focused Anxiety

Relief is hard to come by
Constant change swirls around like sand in the dust storm
The world and here at home

No more lazy summer
Fall harvest emphasizes the movement of the seasons
Overwhelmed to learning to bored
Nervous energy like a mist hangs around my world

Where can value be extracted?
Where will change throw the human aside?
Where will the new intelligence leave us?

I asked for something different
Maybe the stress and strain will resolve into a familiar flow
Perhaps a brand-new idea outside my focus will emerge

What if hard work was rewarded?
What if the struggle was just slightly less intense?
Will the talented remain?

For years I feel a tension to hold up the port I’m in
Perhaps new friends will improve this feeling of dread
Perception is the filter of life
A trip to the woods could also be advisable

And so, I sit here unresolved
